Employer Website: http://apply.interfolio.com/126969Bard Early College New Orleans (BECNO), a partnership between Bard College and the Louisiana Department of Education (LDE) invites applications for an adjunct faculty position in either Math or Science for this Fall semester which starts in August 2023. Candidates must be available for Faculty and Staff Orientation in July. The Mathematics or Science class will meet three times a week, including a lab, and we have some flexibility on the class days/times. The Fall semester begins August 14th.
Bard Early College in New Orleans engages bright, intellectually curious students through a tuition-free, immersive liberal arts curriculum offered to students in the last two years of high school. By promoting authentic and supportive undergraduate opportunities, Bard Early College faculty and staff prepare students of all academic backgrounds for further college success. Across our network, the Bard Early Colleges enable talented and highly motivated students to complete a high school diploma in addition to an Associate of Arts degree from Bard College. Our academic program emphasizes student-led learning in small seminar-style classes. We offer team-based intentional support for our non-traditional students, and a culture of collaborative pedagogical development for our teachers.
We are looking for candidates familiar with using participatory pedagogy, demonstrating commitment to diverse working and learning environments, and focusing on interdisciplinary connections in curricular design. We are seeking educators with a commitment to social justice, who are passionate about their fields of study, and interested in working to advance equity through rigorous curricula made accessible to students with varied academic preparation.
Location: Bard Early College, 3820 St. Claude Ave, 3rd Floor, New Orleans, LA 70117
Start Date: July 15 for Faculty and Staff Orientation, Aug 15 for start of school
Compensation: $6,000 per Math or Science course, $4,500 per Seminar course; adjuncts are limited to a total of 2 courses per semester
Qualifications
- Candidates with expertise in Mathematics or Sciences will be considered.
- We are seeking educators with a commitment to social justice, who are passionate about their fields of study, and interested in working to advance equity through rigorous curricula made accessible to students with varied academic preparation.
- Candidates must show a demonstrated proficiency and interest in teaching high school.
- Candidates who will have a Ph.D. at the time of employment, or who are ABD, with high school and/or college teaching experience are preferred.
