Psychology Program Assistant

Apply Here: https://apply.interfolio.com/167518

The Psychology Program at Bard College seeks a highly motivated and organized Program Assistant to assist in the day-to-day administration of its curricular, research, and community-building endeavors. This flexible, half-time (20 hour/week), non-exempt position represents a great opportunity for individuals, including recent graduates, to gain experience working in a dynamic academic environment in partnership with faculty, staff, and undergraduates studying psychology.

Beginning in July 2025, the Program Assistant’s responsibilities would include:

  • Assisting with laboratory courses in experimental psychology
  • Maintaining the Program’s web, email, and social media presence, including a monthly newsletter
  • Scheduling and coordinating colloquia, social events, meetings, and space/equipment usage
  • Overseeing the Program’s human participants pool, student workers, and shared software licenses
  • Providing technical support for research and pedagogical tools
  • Handling logistical elements in support of certain pillars of the undergraduate curriculum (e.g., scheduling boards, updating the Program’s Google Classroom site, facilitating the experiment pre-registration and budgeting processes for the Senior Project)
  • Tracking expenses, ordering supplies, and coordinating with other Programs/offices on campus
  • Maintaining program records, including meeting minutes and handbook
  • Troubleshooting general questions or concerns arising in coordination with the faculty
  • Handling other office duties, as assigned
  • Liaising with the Career Development Office and Alumni/ae Association in support of efforts to maintain relationships with students who have graduated from the Program
  • Facilitating student-faculty inclusion initiatives
  • Providing support for special initiatives as the Program continues to evolve
  • Coordinating efforts with the Science, Math, and Computing Division’s Administrative Assistant

On-the-job training to support these responsibilities is expected, though candidates with prior experience handling such practicalities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized and reliable, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with varied timelines in a frequently busy and demanding environment
  • Self-motivated and capable of completing high-quality work, whether independently or as part of a team
  • Strong computer and internet skills, including proficiency with MS Office (especially Excel) and Google Workspace (e.g., Google Sheets, Docs, Drive, Slides)
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies easily
  • Strong writing, editing, speaking, quantitative, analytic, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate and build effective relationships in a college community that is broadly diverse
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent to be conferred no later than July 1, 2025
  • Previous administrative experience (especially in an academic environment), research experience in Psychology or related fields, and/or computer programming skills would be beneficial, though not required

The majority of the work associated with this position is expected to take place weekdays during the two academic semesters, extending briefly into the students’ winter and summer breaks. While this is a one-year position, the possibility of an extension for one or more additional years would be considered toward the end of the contract year.

Application Instructions
To apply, please submit a cover letter, resume or CV, and contact information for two references through Interfolio at https://apply.interfolio.com/167518.

Compensation: $20-$22/hour
This salary range reflects the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting.
