Apply Here: https://near.tl/sm/HAeKaTMuoThe Building Operations Assistant & Fire Panel Watch staff’s primary responsibility is assisting Building Operations at the Fisher Center at Bard. The secondary responsibilities of the Building Operations Assistant & Fire Panel Watch staff include overseeing the fire panel during specific theatrical productions when the fire panel is scheduled to be disabled. This role reports to the Facilities Operations and Safety Manager.
Building Operations Assistant Responsibilities
- Serve as a fill-in for full-time Building Operations personnel in the oversight and provision of building services
- Inform the Facilities Operations and Safety Manager of building maintenance requests and custodial-related matters at the site
- Ensure doors and windows are secure before the building is locked and armed for the night
- Be in contact with college security personnel to arm or disarm the alarm system as needed
- Assist various departments with event set-ups of folding tables, chairs, etc
- Assist parking staff with visibility vests, wands, vehicle keys, and radios
- Complete employee training as required
- Be in contact with the fire panel company and college security personnel at the start and end of your shift to inform them when the fire panel will be disabled/enabled during theatrical productions
- Disable/enable the building fire alarm panel at the beginning and end of each shift
- Actively monitor the panel for alarm triggers for the entire duration of your shift
- Report any alarm triggers to Building Operations immediately, contributing to investigating the cause as need be
- Be in contact with Building Operations staff at all times during your shift
- Be in radio contact at all times during your shift
- Fill out any necessary spreadsheets and documents outlining your fire panel shift, including disable/enable times and any fire safety events that occurred during your shift

- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Must have a phone and be comfortable making calls and/or sending and receiving text messages

- Must possess a valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of New York
- Basic knowledge of building maintenance and fire safety
- Basic knowledge of computers for record keeping, such as timesheets, work orders, calendaring, data entry, etc
- Ability to work with diverse constituencies in a bustling performance arts venue
- Ability to work nights and weekends as needed
- Ability to walk comfortably up several flights of stairs

Compensation: $18 – $21; part-time, non-exempt (overtime eligible)
This salary range reflects the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting. Salary decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
