Communications Assistant
The Social Media, Events, and Communications Assistant will coordinate the internal and external communication of the college, organize and promote events, promote faculty work, and ensure that the communication efforts are consistent and up-to-date. The Social Media, Events, and Communications Assistant contributes to advancing the College’s mission and to strengthening its visibility and reach.Responsibilities include
● Communicate the college’s mission, initiatives and events to various audiences
● Manage the “News & Events” rubric on the website and write news articles about faculty, student, and alumni accomplishments
● Maintain the college’s Twitter and Whatsapp accounts
● Coordinate with faculty on the scheduling and publicizing of events
● Coordinate the organization and promotion of digital and live events – on and off campus
● Assist with alumni events and communication
● Supervise student assistants in the areas of graphic design and events
● Provide input for the college’s online presence and digital communications, including website, social media, newsletters, and other platforms
● Maintain and expand the contact database
● Design graphics for event posters, social media, and other institutional collateral
● Assist with website updates
Requirements
● Proven ability to write and develop content for a range of channels
● Good visual understanding and strong technical skills in the areas of graphic design / photo and video editing/ website design
● Excellent organizational and time management skills
● Excellent written and verbal presentation skills
● English at native-language level, both verbally and in writing, strong command of German is a plus
● Interest in contemporary debates on liberal arts and higher education
● Experience in a similar role in a multicultural environment and/or the non-profit sector is a plus
● Willingness to work flexible hours for occasional evening events
