Digital Research and Administrative Post-Bac Fellow for Experimental Humanities

The Center for Experimental Humanities (EH) at Bard College invites applications for a 1-year post- baccalaureate fellowship. Applicants for this position should be recent Bard graduates (graduation within the past three years, 2023-25) with a demonstrated academic interest in Experimental Humanities — technology, creative practice, and the humanities. We are especially interested in individuals with a Concentration in EH and/or those who pursued innovative and interdisciplinary approaches in their college studies, are committed to engaged scholarship, and/or demonstrated innovation in humanities and technology in the service of social justice.

The post-bac would be based at Bard and collaborate with EH Co-Directors as well as the EH Developer and EH Steering Committee in expanding the outreach of EH through public-facing projects in the community and across Bard, including developing their own research projects connected to EH. This position will also assist the Co-Directors on day-to-day administrative efforts of EH such as: coordinating and organizing events; assisting in budget management, check requests, and purchase orders; co- supervising 8-12 media corps students; maintaining the EH building, calendar, and space reservation system, and coordinating winter working groups and summer student research projects as needed.

This position is for a period of one year, beginning July 1, 2025 for a 12-month contract with full medical insurance benefits and may be renewable up to 3 years based upon annual review.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Arts
  • Hands-on experience with a range of technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse faculty, students, and staff
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Experience in project management
  • Capable of multi-tasking with accuracy and proficiency
  • Proactive and resourceful problem solver
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Strong computer skills

Physical Demands
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time and work in standard office environment
  • Must be able to occasionally lift 20 pounds
  • Must be able to work occasional weekends and evenings as needed

Seniors on track to graduate in Spring 2025, as well as graduates of the classes of 2024 and 2023 are eligible to apply. Further materials, such as a sample of scholarly and creative work, may be solicited at a later point.

Compensation: $20/hr
This salary range reflects the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting. Salary decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
