Environmental Sciences Faculty and Assistant Director

Bard College’s Center for Environmental Policy (CEP) seeks an Environmental Sciences faculty member and Assistant Director to support our suite of graduate programs: MS in Environmental Policy, MS in Climate Science and Policy, and M Ed in Environmental Education degree programs. 

The Assistant Director will, as faculty, teach a year-long sequence in environmental science; manage coursework in environmental education; advise masters capstones; support graduate internships and leadership education; and play a central role in shaping CEP’s academic and co-curricular vision. In partnership with faculty and program staff, they will support curricular planning across programs and design out-of-class learning experiences that advance student belonging and professional readiness.

The successful candidate will be experienced in interdisciplinary teaching and scholarship, and should have a demonstrated record of engagement with public policy or environmental education issues. The curriculum within Bard’s graduate programs also centers a focus on environmental justice and community engagement informed by participatory approaches. Professional or scholarly work in this area is preferred. 

This is a three-year renewable appointment.

Qualifications
Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Ecology, Earth Science, or a closely related field. 
Demonstrated excellence in teaching. Evidence of scholarly achievement with application to public policy or environmental education. Experience in academic administration or other forms of organizational leadership is preferred.
   
About Bard CEP

Bard CEP offers Masters of Science degrees in Environmental Policy and Climate Science and Policy, and a Masters of Education in Environmental Education. The programs offer an intensive, interdisciplinary course of study, integrating science, economics, law and policy, centering themes of environmental justice and social equity. CEP degree programs provide practical training in preparation for environmental careers in nonprofit organizations, government, and the private sector. CEP is embedded within the Bard Graduate Programs in Sustainability (GPS), which also includes the Bard MBA in Sustainability. For more information about Bard CEP, please visit https://gps.bard.edu/

Compensation
$85,000-$95,000 depending on experience.
