Trained, collaborative peer and staff support with college writing
Along with our various "Shut Up and Write" series, SProj and other writing workshops, and composition classes, the Learning Commons' services continues our writing consulting and ESL-specialized writing tutoring! Our focus falls on the social dimension of learning, and the core or our mission involves using one-on-one collaborative student exchange as a venue for extending and deepening the process of discovery that goes on in the classroom.
We are here to provide a friendly second set of eyes, notice things that need noticing, help you re-visit choices that merit revision, and think through strategies for getting your draft to the next level.
We are located on the south side of Stone Row, across the quad from Old Henderson. Say Hello and make an appointment with one of our excellent, trained peer writing tutors in the Learning Commons, open Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.–8 p.m.
Writing consultants and ESL-trained writing tutors are available to tutor Sunday–Thursday, 4–8pm and Friday-Saturday, 4–6pm.
You may stop in at any stage in your writing process to work with a peer writing tutor.
You may talk to Learning Commons Administrative Assistant Nathaniel Carlsen ('18) about being assigned a writing tutor or a tutor in a particular subject(s).
All Learning Commons tutoring is free of charge, naturally.
See you in the BLC!
