Connectivity During the COVID-19 Pandemic

While the campus telephone systems are designed primarily for on-site operations, the resources located in the Remote Connectivity section below can assist users during this period while many are working remotely.

Conference Calling

Users may initiate three-party conference calls from their office telephones by following the instructions below.

Up to eight-party conference calls can be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.  A direct dial-in number will be provided to the organizer of the conference call that should be distributed to the participants.  Participants can dial-in to the conference call from on-campus or off-campus telephones.

To reserve a conference call, please email [email protected] with the date, time and an approximate duration of the conference.

Overview of Campus Telecommunications

  • All residence halls are equipped with hallway phones that may be used to dial on-campus extensions, local calls, 800 numbers, and pre-paid calling cards.
  • Long distance calling cards are available at the college bookstore, located in the Bertelsmann Campus Center.
  • Every residence hall room contains a physical telephone jack and an Ethernet jack.
  • All residence halls have wireless Internet service.

Activating a Phone Jack in Your Room

If you would like to be assigned a campus extension, please create a work order request and the Bard Telecommunications department will install a telephone line in your room.  A campus extension will allow you to receive incoming calls as well as dial campus extensions, local calls and 800#s from your room. Please note that students must provide their own telephone.

Campus Emergency Phones

There is a large network of outdoor emergency phones on-campus that can be used to quickly contact Bard Security in the event of an emergency. You will find these phones in blue enclosures along campus paths and outside the front doors of residence halls.
