A Student Colloquium. Archive Fever: From Literature to Film
Tuesday, May 10, 2016
Preston
1:30 pm – 4:30 pm EDT/GMT-4
Contemporary societies are marked by a widely shared desire to create personal and collective archives as a way of witnessing and memorializing our lives. What are the original ways in which archive fever permeates contemporary cultural manifestations? What characterizes archival literature and film in comparison with archival art or, more broadly, with the boarder archival urge that marks our societies? With an emphasis on the Iberian and Latin-American cultures, this student colloquium will be an exploration of hybrid auto/biographical archives through which the self compulsively organizes and reorganizes photographs, documents, historical and literary records, personal reflections, and memories, thereby creating a sui generis mode of life-narration.1:30 pm – 4:30 pm EDT/GMT-4
All panel discussions will be in Spanish.
Open to the Bard Spanish-speaking community.
