Cryptography is now part of our daily life, even if we rarely see it. It is used every time we shop on the internet, make a banking transaction, or even connect to a social network. But few people know about the operations involved, and how it is used in their life. In this talk, I will present a quick history of cryptography in the 20th century, show how our computers establish a secure connection and present a few examples of research problems that cryptographers are now trying to solve. In particular, I will discuss one of my recent results on electronic voting. For more information, call 845-752-2359, or e-mail [email protected].
