Center for Curatorial Studies Presents
Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon
Friday, March 30, 2018
CCS Bard Library
12:30 pm – 4:30 pm EDT/GMT-4
Wikipedia’s gender trouble is well-documented. In a 2011 survey, the Wikimedia Foundation found that less than 10% of its contributors were women. While the reasons for the gender gap are up for debate, the practical effect of this disparity is not: content is skewed by the lack of representation from women.12:30 pm – 4:30 pm EDT/GMT-4
Let’s change that.
Join us at the Center for Curatorial Studies Library, Bard College, 33 Garden Road, Annandale-on-Hudson, NY on Friday, March 30 from 12:30 to 4:30pm for a communal updating of Wikipedia entries for female artists, curators and collectives. We will provide tutorials for the beginner Wikipedian, ongoing editorial support, reference materials, childcare, and refreshments. No prior Wikipedia editing experience is required.
Bring your laptop, power cord and ideas for entries that need improvement or creation. We’ll have a list of our own as well, for those who prefer more direction. We invite people of all gender identities and expressions to participate.

*Please note that childcare requires advance RSVP by Friday, March 16th.*
We strongly encourage participants to create a Wikipedia account before the event. You can learn how to do that here:
