Tango for All People, Beginner Lesson at 7 PM
The Bard Tango Program is pleased to host the first “Queer Milonga” in the Hudson Valley. Queer tango provides a creative space in which “those dancing refuse to play by the strict gender codes that had historically been required of the dance, the hyper-representational coding of gender.… [In Queer tango spaces] men may dance with men, women with women, women may lead men, may dance either the role of leader or follower, and in many cases they may even switch roles mid-song with a slight cue” . Queer tango welcomes the LGBTQ community, and also supports female leaders and male followers, regardless of their sexual orientation. For more information, call 845-758-7067, or e-mail [email protected].
