Talking Criticism
Most criticism typically addresses itself to a vague entity known as "the public." In this talk Professor Kitnick will focus on what it might look like if criticism addressed itself to other audiences. Professor Kitnick will speak about the case of poet and critic David Antin and his unique brand of "talking." Topics to be discussed include communities, coteries, vernaculars, and voices, and how changing audiences and art forms might contribute to a fundamental change in criticism as well.Assistant Professor of Art History and Visual Culture
