Rethinking Place: Course Support Grants

Applications Due April 15th, 2023
The Rethinking Place initiative invites applications for our third round of course development support (in the form of course costs (speaker fees, transportation, supplies) and/or course release or financial equivalent) for faculty interested in offering a course specifically addressing the themes of Rethinking Place, as outlined below.Deadlines: (rolling applications)
Round 1 (applications due May 6, 2022): accepting applications for Theme #1, for courses to be taught either Fall 2022 or Spring 2023
Round 2 (applications due Sept. 19, 2022): accepting applications for Theme #2, for courses to be taught either Fall 2023 or Spring 2024
Round 3 (applications due April 15, 2023): accepting applications for Theme #2 or Theme #3, for courses to be taught Fall 2023 or Spring 2024
Round 4 (applications due spring 2024): accepting applications for Theme #3, for courses to be taught Fall 2024
General Course Themes:
Rereading America/Deep Listening (using archives and existing texts/data to reinterpret the idea of being American through the lens of Indigenous Realities and histories of enslaved peoples)
Deep Listening/Language (exploring language in service of broadening worldviews through interdisciplinary but NAIS focused methods)
Food & Memory (engaging broad themes of food and land as sites of historical and cultural memory)
