What comes standard across campus?

What comes standard across campus?

While our buildings vary greatly, there are a lot of standardized amenities.
Every room on campus is provided with one twin XL bed frame and mattress, one desk, one chair, and at least one dresser per resident. All residence halls have WiFi throughout.

About Our Amenities

  • Laundry
    Laundry
All residents have access to a laundry room either in their building or in a nearby building. All laundry rooms feature front-load washers and dryers, requiring high-efficiency detergent.

    Laundry
All residents have access to a laundry room either in their building or in a nearby building. All laundry rooms feature front-load washers and dryers, requiring high-efficiency detergent.
Many laundry rooms also host utility sinks and folding tables; some have snack and drink vending machines. We highly encourage students to set timers and attend to laundry actively as the college does not hold responsibility for laundry left in the laundry room.

    Coinless Laundry

During the academic year, residents utilize coinless laundry as the averaged cost of laundry is factored in the cost of living on campus. Our coinless laundry allows residents to run as many loads as they need without overloading the machines or incurring more cost.

During the summer, laundry prices are posted in the laundry room; machines accept only quarters (there is a change machine located in the Campus Center). Any necessary refunds should be requested through Buildings and Grounds.

    Laundry Machine Maintenance

Our laundry rooms are furnished with machines owned and operated by a local laundromat. This company maintains our machines regularly and responds to any issues reported to Buildings and Grounds via the service request form linked below. To be a great neighbor, leave a note on any machine you experience issues with so that others are aware that a service request has been filed.
  • Kitchens
    Kitchens
All residences feature a communal kitchen, kitchenette, or suite-kitchens shared by the residents of the building. Equipment in these spaces can vary.

All residences feature a communal kitchen, kitchenette, or suite-kitchens shared by the residents of the building. Equipment in these spaces can vary.
Stone Row (Hofffman and McVickar-Potter) and Bartlett houses feature community kitchenettes. These are spaces that offer a full sized community refrigerator/freezer unit and microwave. These partial kitchen spaces do not feature sinks, stoves, or ovens.

Each Resnick Suite features a kitchen with a refrigerator/freezer, stove/oven, sink, and counter/cabinets. Some suites include a microwave and we have plans to expand this to all suites in the coming years.

    Community Kitchens

All residences (outside of those listed above) feature a kitchen space shared by the residents of the building. These kitchens feature a refrigerator/freezer, stove/oven, microwave, sink, and counter/cabinets. Residents are responsible for all cleaning in the community kitchens. Any food or kitchenwares stored in the community kitchen are left at ones own risk.

Many community kitchens feature small appliances and kitchenwares that have been donated by staff, faculty, and previous residents. These wares vary drastically and we welcome you to add to the kitchenwares of your communities kitchen.

Wireless networking is available from many areas around the Bard campus including all of the residence halls. Students wishing to use wireless networking need to ensure their computer supports 802.11b /g wireless networks. Use of non-Bard wireless access points not allowed.

    Wired Internet

All rooms have 1 cat-5 Ethernet port available for direct-to-device connectivity by bringing your own Ethernet cable.  Note, you are not permitted to bring your own wireless router or access point.  Residents of double and triple rooms typically share one port, so we encourage you to connect with your roommate to plan your use of the port.

    Phone Line

All resident rooms feature a phone line port which can be activated by making a request with Buildings & Grounds.  Use of this port is limited to local calling in the 845 area code without a calling card.
